SouthEats mission is to radically shift the way we think about food and ownership East of the River in Washington, DC by improving access to healthy, affordable prepared meals and introducing shared ownership into the local food ecosystem.
BRIDGING THE RACIAL HEALTH GAP AND THE RACIAL WEALTH GAP
Why this, Why Now?
-
For years residents in East of the River and parts of Prince Georges County have not had equitable access to healthy and convent food options.
-
We aim to provide healthy food options that uplift the local food system, health, and cooperative economics.
-
SouthEats meal-kits save time by providing tasty pre-portioned and seasoned family-size meals, reduce the need to make as many trips to the store, and time spent shopping and cooking.

After running a 6-week pilot program in 2019 in Ward 8, we relaunched in Ward 7 and remain committed to centering our service in these communities with the goal of growing at the pace of trust. SouthEats excitedly welcomes direct feedback from the communities we are rooted in, reach out to us! In addition to community relationship building, we continue to strengthen our frameworks for local food sourcing, farmers and food hubs. As Black DC natives and long-time residents, we are proud to work with multiple Black and Brown owned farms and gardens across the DMV to create nourishing menus that offer functional ease and cultural alignment.
